English Strong Ale | 5.7%
Riggwelter is our 3rd ever beer, taking its name from a local Yorkshire Dales farming term which has Norse roots; “rygg” meaning back, and “velte” meaning to overturn. A sheep is said to be rigged or ‘riggwelted’ when it has rolled onto its back and is unable to get back up without assistance. At 5.7%, you might be able to guess why.
Riggwelter has a wonderfully complex palate with hints of coffee, banana and liquorice combined, with a classic dry Goldings hop finish.
