DARK ALE FAQs:
WHAT IS DARK BEER?
Dark beer is a type of beer that’s dark in colour, usually brown to black. It gets its colour from roasted malt and usually has a rich flavour with hints of chocolate, coffee and caramel.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PALE ALE AND DARK ALE?
As the name suggests, pale ale is lighter in colour and often has a more pronounced hop flavour with a balanced malt profile. Dark ale, on the other hand, has a richer flavour, less hop bitterness, and colour that ranges from brown to black. The differences come from the types of malt used in the brewing process.
IS DARK BEER THE SAME AS STOUT?
Dark beer is a broad category that includes several different beer styles. Stout is a specific type of dark beer, known for its robust flavours and strong notes of roasted malt. All stouts are dark beers, but not all dark beers are stouts!
