IPA BEER FAQs:

WHAT IS AN IPA BEER?

IPA stands for India Pale Ale. It’s a type of beer known for its hoppy flavour, often with citrus, floral or piney notes. IPAs can vary in colour and strength, but they generally have a bold and bitter taste due to the generous amount of hops used in the brewing process.

WHY IS IT CALLED AN INDIAN PALE ALE?

India Pale Ale got its name from its historical connection to British trade with India. During the 18th and 19th centuries, British brewers increased the amount of hops and alcohol in their pale ales to preserve them for their long sea journey to the East. The result was a strong, hoppy beer that was popular with both British soldiers and civilians, and soon became known as India Pale Ale.

WHAT IS A SESSION IPA?

A session IPA is a lighter version of a regular IPA. It has the same hoppy taste but a lower alcohol percentage, so you can drink it for a longer “session” without getting too tipsy!
