Trek to China for Charity

01 November 2007
Category: Brewery News

Inspired by her colleague and good friend, Cat Huntington, who was diagnosed with MS last year, Claire decided to take on the five day challenge, trekking an average of 16 kilometres a day along the wall to raise funds for MS research.

Claire, who has worked at Black Sheep for the past seven years, said: ‘The trek was gruelling but so rewarding. We trekked by day, ate rice by night and got to see some of the most spectacular scenery. The support from my family and friends has been fantastic and helped spur me on to complete the trek.’

Claire also received support from many of her colleagues at the brewery, including raising money at golf day’s and staff parties. One colleague who went above and beyond was Cran Kennedy, a well known figure in the brewing industry with a Father Christmas style hair doo, who generated over £500 towards the final total, with a sponsored haircut.
Helen Allison, Marketing Manager at the Black Sheep Brewery said: ‘We’re all so proud of Claire for all of the effort she put into doing this trek. Cat is a dear friend to all of us at the brewery and we are glad to be able to help support a charity that is close to her heart.’
