Shearer Returns!

June already! Where does the time go?! Well, summer is officially here and we’re chuffed to welcome back one of our most loved summer ales!

Following its debut in 2016, we’ve brought Shearer back for another year, offering the perfect pint for summer drinking. This 4.1% pale ale is brewed with an exciting blend of Citra hops and fresh Lemongrass, a unique recipe devised by our Head Brewer, Phil Douglas.

Shearer pours an inviting golden colour with a creamy white head. On the nose, it packs a big aroma of zingy, floral Lemongrass backed up by a juicy, pithy note from the Citra hops. The classic characteristics of Citra play a big part in Shearer, with citrus flavours leading the way and offering a pleasant bittersweet character that compliments the light, malty base perfectly. The hop-forward nature of Shearer blends perfectly with the Lemongrass that we add in the Hop Back, contributing a very noticeable flavour of lemon-lime with a very subtle, yet pleasant spicy twang.

If you fancy pairing Shearer with a summer dish, give it a try with a homemade stir-fry. The Lemongrass works wonders alongside spicy flavours of ginger and chilli.

Shearer will be available on bars throughout June and will be permanently available at our Visitor Centre for the full month. Following its success last year, we can’t wait to have a few pints of this in the June sunshine! Go on, give it a go!
