Say Hello to Velo!
We’re saddling up for another summer of cycling with the return of our supremely popular, free-wheeling pale ale, Velo!
2017 will see Velo’s fourth appearance on cask in consecutive years as we look forward to the Tour de Yorkshire which passes the brewery gates in late April. First launched back in 2014 in celebration of Le Grand Depart, Velo has been a big hit amongst our loyal following and is always eagerly anticipated!
Velo is a 4.2% pale ale packed with fresh Cascade hops and generous helpings of orange peel. We also add a touch of coriander to the brew, offering a really subtle, yet pleasant spicy note on the back end. The end result is a top quality session pint with layers of juicy, hoppy and fragrant notes throughout. A light and crisp bitterness completes what is one of our favourite beers to brew here at the Black Sheep.
The timing of #Velo17 couldn’t have been better, as we look forward to a momentous month of cycling here in Yorkshire. On 28th April, Le Tour de Yorkshire will navigate the roads of our home county for the weekend, and on Day 2, will physically pass the doors of the brewery here in Masham! Us locals can’t wait to get involved in the festivities and there’s set to be lots going on here at the Black Sheep – keep an eye out for more news on that…
Velo will be available to pubs and bars from today, so be sure to call in at your local and get hold of a freshly pulled pint! If however, you’re not able to get to your local, don’t forget, Velo is permanently available in bottle direct from the brewery – online and in-house! The bottled version has recently been rebranded and we think the new design is looking ace, so if you’re planning on staying at home for the TDY weekend, then remember to stock up on a case or two!
