5 Barrel Project: Liminal Space
After a hiatus during the pandemic, the 5 Barrel Project relaunched on a small scale for the BrewLDN beer festival in London earlier this year, but is coming back now in full force. The addition of a new Dual Purpose Vessel means that we can increase the production of these unique and experimental craft brews, making them available in keg to local pubs and bars, and in can for our brewery and online shop. The 5 Barrel Project is the craft arm of Black Sheep, created with the aim to experiment and innovate with no constraints on style, abv or price.
You might have seen Liminal Space in its limited release earlier in the year, but it’s now ready for wider release. Hopped with a dream combo of hyper-modern US hops, Citra and Mosaic, this supercharged IPA screams with juicy mango, pineapple and overripe melon flavours. The malt bill features plenty of wheat and oats, creating a silky, hazy base for these hops to shine, whilst bringing the ABV in at a not-to-be-sniffed-at 6.6%. The sticky, sweet tropical aromas spring from the glass as you pour this hazy orange liquid, which gleams with a thick, bright white head.
A liminal space is an area of transition, on the precipice of something new – physical, metaphorical or emotional. Liminal Space marks the beginning of the new journey that 5 Barrel Project is undertaking.
