Get Set for Le Firkin Challenge!
Today starts the 100-day countdown to Le Tour’s Grand Depart! To mark the occasion, we’re inviting cyclists to join us for Le Firkin Challenge – our charity biking event taking place on Saturday 7 June, 2014. The event raises money for Wooden Spoon, the Children’s Charity of Rugby. Last year’s Firkin Challenge raised £17,000 for this well-deserving cause. Le Firkin Challenge tackles two carefully chosen routes, Le Petit Mouton (100km) and Le Grand Mouton (160km). Both routes start and finish at our Visitor Centre in Masham and both take in sections of the Le tour’s Grand Depart, including the Buttertubs Pass. Both routes will be fully supported with checkpoints, support vehicles and light refreshments. Once back at the Brewery, riders are in with a chance of winning prizes, including the highly acclaimed wooden spoon for the last person to finish the course. Entry costs £25 and a minimum of £100 sponsorship per rider is required. Entrants can take part as individuals or as a team. Jo Theakston, our Sales and Marketing Director says: “The annual Firkin Challenge is a great part of our annual events calendar and this year, with the Grand Depart coming to Yorkshire, it is even more exciting. Le Firkin Challenge will be a great way to get involved with the excitement of the build up to one of the greatest sporting events in the world coming to our region, as well as to raise money for a fantastic charity.” To join us for the ride, call us on 01765 689227 or e-mail [email protected]. Further information on the event is available on our Le Firkin Challenge page.
