This December marks the return of one of our most acclaimed brews here at the Black Sheep. The famous, Imperial Russian Stout returns to our flock of beers, exclusively in cask for a short period this Christmas. There’s something extra special about this batch though, as this supreme, limited edition version has been aged in cask for 12 months.
The new, barrel-aged version is due to be unleashed in December, with only 50 casks in existence. During it’s 12 month hibernation period, this 8.5% Impy Stout has matured and developed a unique flavour, never to have seen the day of light in pubs! We’ve had it safe under lock-and-key here at the brewery and having sampled it in our top-secret sampling facility, it’s safe to say, this beer won’t disappoint!
For those of you who don’t know about our Imperial Russian Stout, it’s a deliciously dark, strong and powerful ale packing layers and layers of incredible flavour. At 8.5% it has a beautifully smooth alcohol warmth that finishes an tremendously complex array of dark fruit and rich, sweet notes.
The matured version is now ready to go and we can’t wait to hear what you think of this extremely, limited edition ale. The rare beast is available to pubs on a first come first serve basis, so make sure your local gets hold of some this Christmas.
Jo Theakston, here at the Black Sheep can’t wait to get cracked into the barrel-aged version. “The wait is finally over and we’re delighted to be offering local pubs this new, limited edition version of our Imperial Russian Stout, which has been barrel-aged for twelve months. Our award-winning brewing team are excited by the results of the barrel aging process and we hope cask drinkers, looking for something really special, will love this beer as much as we do.”
