Black Sheep Goes Black Tie

26 June 2009
Category: Brewery News

The dinner, held at the Brewery’s Visitors Centre in Masham, is part of a year-long fund raising campaign; the ‘Big Push Up Arctic Circle Challenge’, that will see a team from the Brewery embark on an epic motorbike journey to the Arctic Circle on 9 June 2009. Through a series of fundraising efforts including the chest waxing of Black Sheep’s National Sales Manager Brian Smith, the brewery has raised more than £30,000, smashing its target.

Guests at the dinner were treated to a champagne reception, four course meal and a lively auction hosted by Emmerdale’s Chris Chitell. Some of the fantastic auction prizes included a tour of the Emmerdale set, a trip for two to Spain, and arguably the best lot of the night, the opportunity to be brewer for the day at Black Sheep Brewery.

Paul Theakston, Managing Director of Black Sheep, comments, ‘The night was a huge success, surpassing all expectations. With the support of our staff, suppliers and local people we have raised a huge amount of money that will make a discernable difference to cancer sufferers and their families within our community. The great support and encouragement shown throughout the year will keep us going across the Arctic, I’m sure!’

The team of travellers will include Black Sheep’s National Sales Manager Brian Smith, National On-Trade Account Manager Allan Russell, Brewing Engineer Mark Allison and friend of the brewery John Oldridge, with a support vehicle driven by brewery founders Paul and Sue Theakston.
