The weekend-long festival, held in Hawes and the beautiful surroundings of Upper Wensleydale, is in its sixth year and has gained a loyal following with over 300 walkers already signed up to this year’s event.
Marketing Manager at Black Sheep Brewery, Helen Allison says: ‘We have been inundated with requests for tickets for this year’s Black Sheep Boots and Beer Walking Festival. We have some new walkers this year in addition to many returning ramblers, some of whom have been every year. The festival is in its sixth year now and the numbers of walkers taking part is growing each year. We’re due an Indian summer this year which will make for some fantastic views of the Wensleydale countryside, so I’d encourage those who want to take part, to register now before the tickets sell out.’
Walking festival tickets are priced at £17.50 per person which includes a choice of 14 specially commissioned self-guided walks which range from easy to challenging; these will start from Hawes, Askrigg and Aysgarth. Detailed route descriptions, OS maps and checkpoints are all provided. Once again the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority are kindly providing back-markers for the event. Walkers will also receive a goody bag and an exclusive Boots and Beer T-shirt to wear while they walk.
As well as the picturesque surroundings and fabulous pubs a selection of entertainment will be available on the Saturday night including a Ceilidh, a Race Night, a Quiz and a Folk evening. Money raised from these events will once again be donated to the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team.
