Here come the girls…

Black Sheep Brewery was run amok with women on Saturday night for the third instalment of Big Push Up fundraisers. With more than 100 ladies in attendance, the male population of Masham didn’t know what had hit them! The ladies gathered for a pink champagne reception, followed by a three course meal.

The money was raised through a ‘male charity auction’ in which prizes and men (some from Black Sheep Brewery) were auctioned off. There were some great prizes donated from a wide range of local business, such as Bedale Beauty, Virgin Vie, Saks at Northallerton, Extreme Creations, Yorkshire 4×4, Swinton Park and Romanby Golf & Country Club.

The event was organised to raise money for The Big Push Up campaign. A team of four intrepid motor cyclists are ridding to the Arctic Circle next spring to raise £25,000 for the Scott Suite Breast Cancer Ward at The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The riders are covering their own costs for the challenge, but are staging a number of individual and joint fundraising events to raise as much money as possible for the charity, which is why they very kindly auctioned their time and talents off to the excited women.

Louise Guy from Black Sheep’s Marketing team commented: ‘The night was a huge success with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves. The Ladies raised over £3000 – an amazing amount of money for a great cause. We’re delighted at the support we’re getting from all our colleagues and it is really motivating our motorbike team as they prepare for their epic ride next year.’

With the big Arctic journey set to take place in the Summer of 2009, the team of travellers include Black Sheep’s National Sales Manager Brian Smith, National On-Trade Account Manager Allan Russell, Brewing Engineer Mark Allison and friend of the brewery John Oldridge, with a support vehicle team consisting of brewery founders Paul and Sue Theakston.
