Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions Cricket Trophy Final
The Final of this years competition took place between Holders & Yorkshire League Champions York & Huddersfield League's Scholes.
Scholes won the toss & elected to bat.
There was a small shower of rain at 1.00pm which reduced the game to one of 48 overs.
Scholes scored 199 all out in 45 overs.
Tom Love - 35, Phil Birkhead - 25, Mohammed Shahnawaz - 59; Tom Pringle 3 for 39 from 10 overs, Daniel Woods 3 for 23 from 10 overs.
Scholes were restricted by some very tight bowling and with wickets falling regularly found themselves at 123 for 8 in the 37th over, Mohammed Shahnawaz came in at number 9 & hit the first 50 runs off 22 balls in 23 minutes, ending on 59 when he was last man out.
York where 157 all out in 43.1 overs.
Liam McKendry 39, Alex Collins - 38, Mohammed Shahnawaz 4 for 25 off 9 overs, Andy Alsop 3 for 25 off 10 overs.
York were hampered by 3 very early wickets of Dan Wilson - 0, Simon Lambert - 7, Simon Mason - 8, finding themselves at 19 for 3 after only 9 overs. However Liam McKendry & Alex Collins made a spirited comeback, the next wicket falling at 104. But after those 2 were out they lost 2 further quick wickets & were 113 for 7 after 31 overs. They were finally all out for 157 in the 43rd over.
The game was very well attended, played in a very excellent & respectful manner. Both teams showed respect for each other & also the game of Cricket. They should both be very proud of themselves.
