It won’t sell much beer – but that doesn’t worry Black Sheep Brewery, which was happy to sponsor the building of the latest addition to the model village at Ryedale Folk Museum. Black Sheep Brewery, based at Masham, North Yorkshire, supplies its ales to around 500 pubs locally and to multiple pub groups nationally and the Howe Quarry Inn is now officially its smallest outlet! The stone-built, tiled Inn is a central feature of the Museum’s model village and stands about three feet high. A team of 200 volunteers helped create it and the other buildings, which are perfectly constructed out of traditional stone and slate and authentic down to the last detail with the pub sign on the gable end of the Inn measuring just 35cm x 13cm. And, because building is thirsty work, Black Sheep brewery was on hand with crates of its much-loved Black Sheep Ale for the volunteers. The brewery’s North East account manager Stewart Fox (pictured below), said: “The model village really is picture postcard perfect – just the sort of area we like to trade in “We won’t be selling much ale in it but were delighted to sponsor its build. Pubs are the traditional heart of village communities and we’re always happy to put something back into those communities.” The Ryedale Folk Museum is a charitable trust created to celebrate North Yorkshire’s heritage and it reaches a further 7,000 people through its work in the community in schools, hospitals and homes for the elderly. The Museum attracts 40,000 visitors a year and recently won the Best Employer and Learning Links at the York Press Business Awards.
