Our Best Bitter has won ‘Beer of the Year’ award with Black Sheep Best Bitter with Castle Rock!

Castle Rock pub regulars across the East Midlands and Yorkshire have chosen Best Bitter as their favourite real ale for 2011. As part of a glittering charity evening at Castle Rock’s Poppy and Pint the top award was collected in front of guests from over two dozen of the UK’s top national, regional and micro breweries.

The award was presented to Brian Smith (Sales Director) and Phil Bebbington (National Account Manager) at the awards ceremony at the end of February 2012. Phil Bebbington said, “we are delighted to receive Beer of the Year award for Black Sheep Best Bitter, particularly as this was voted for by Castle Rock customers. It is a real honour to be picked ahead of such a strong field, and it’s great to pick up an award like this in our own 20th Anniversary year! A big thanks to all at Castle Rock!”

Colin Wilde, Castle Rock’s Managing Director, says: “It’s facinating that two of the year’s awards went to long established breweries and to beers whose flavours have stood the test of time. This was an entertaining and inspiring evening for us all, and I hope it was a great night for the newcomers to the industry.”
