Arctic Circle Adventure '09

Fundraising Events

So far we have raised a fantastic £33,000 which has smashed our original target of £25,000 who knows what the next month or 2 will bring ….We have organized a number of fundraising events which have taken place over the last year including A Ladies Night, Black Tie & Pink Frills Gala Dinner, A dress in Pink Day, a number of Ride Outs including a Coast to coast.

Ladies Night

What a success…..The Black Sheep Brewery was run amok with women on Saturday November 29th. With more than 100 ladies in attendance, the male population of Masham didn’t know what had hit them! The ladies many of whom were looking pretty in pink gathered for a pink champagne reception, followed by a three course meal. The money was raised through a “male charity auction” in which prizes and men (some from Black Sheep Brewery) were auctioned off

There were some great prizes donated from a wide range of local business, such as Bedale Beauty, Virgin Vie, Saks at Northallerton, Extreme Creations, Yorkshire 4x4, Swinton Park and Romanby Golf & Country Club.

The night was a huge success with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves. The Ladies raised an amazing £3000.

Black Tie & Pink Frills Gala Dinner

On Saturday 4th of April the glamorous Black Tie and Pink Frills Gala Dinner was held at the Brewery’s Visitors Centre in Masham, It was part of a year-long fund raising campaign; for the ‘Big Push Up Arctic Circle Challenge’, Guests at the dinner were treated to a champagne reception, four course meal and a lively auction hosted by Emmerdale’s Chris Chitell. Some of the fantastic auction prizes included a tour of the Emmerdale set, a trip for two to Spain, and arguably the best lot of the night, the opportunity to be brewer for the day at Black Sheep Brewery. The evening raised over £6,000 which was fantastic and tipped fundraising to date over £30,000 smashing the original £25,000 target.

Paul Theakston, Managing Director of Black Sheep, comments;
“The night was a huge success, surpassing all expectations. With the support of our staff, suppliers and local people we have raised a huge amount of money that will make a discernable difference to cancer sufferers and their families within our community. The great support and encouragement shown throughout the year will keep us going across the Arctic, I’m sure!”
